Fly Fishing in the Alps: A Passion Rekindled
The Alpine Allure
The crystal-clear waters of the Salzach River and the breathtaking beauty of Zell am See’s lakes first captivated me in 2010 when I moved here for a professional ice hockey career. Little did I know, this alpine paradise would reignite my lifelong passion for fly fishing.
Roots of a Lifelong Passion
My love for fishing began in childhood, inspired by my father—a Czech Republic representative in European and World Fly Fishing Championships. Under his guidance, I mastered the art of artificial flies and quickly became hooked. By my youth, I was competing in local tournaments, even earning a nomination for the 2002 Junior World Fly Fishing Championship in Scotland. Yet, my hockey career’s relentless demands forced me to set aside my fishing dreams—until now.
A New Chapter on the Water
After retiring from hockey, I returned to Zell am See and devoted myself fully to fly fishing. Over the past 11 years, I’ve explored every river and lake in the region, developing locally successful fly patterns and deepening my expertise.
